Home Maintainence

Today John and I did our first home fix-it/improvement project. We fenced in a small portion of our yard for Gunnar, and cut out a gate on our deck so he can be let out and stay out. The weather is getting really nice and I am sure he misses being outdoors. He was outdoors all the time with Kona in Arizona.

You can tell a lot about a couple by how they handle projects together. I discovered that while John and I love each other and I consider us to have a good marriage, we have a lot of room for improvement. And while there are many more home improvement projects to be done, I think we need to keep forging ahead in the marriage improvement journey. We just completed our first small group together on Thursday. It was a 7 week marriage small group/teaching study. It was GREAT! We learned a lot! Now the time for some application!

There were some moments today that made me want to strangle John and he me. We worked it out and are able to laugh about it now. But I was a bit convicted. I need to offer a lot more grace and respect for my husband. I hope during the next project we do we will reflect a more adequate picture of Christ and the Church, as that is our purpose as a married couple. I'll keep you updated. For now I will rejoice in forgiveness and love, that covers a multitude of wrongs. John did a GREAT job with the gate and the fence. When I was asked to help, all I had to do was hold the level, and guess what? Yup, it's crooked! :) He laughed at me, thank goodness. John was persistant in getting the job done, everytime I got frustrated I went to the hardware store for something. John stayed behind, struggling through the problems and he completed the job! Good job honey, it looks great, besides being a little crooked ;)

By the way, John has already said he WILL take down the gate and fix it, making sure it is level, before anyone comes over. So, no, you won't be able to see my mistake :)
