God Speaks...

Today I was a little discouraged by the kids' behavior during our Easter Bible/activity time.  They listened to the Bible story, song(vol 6 #7) and audio Bible but then the doorbell rang and neighbor kids asked to play.  They were not at all interested in the activity. They weren't really getting the connection to the story and serving as other things were getting their attention.   Toddlers are so easily distracted.  This is what I emailed John:

So I am trying so hard to make this week about Jesus' life and example to us for the kids doing an activity a day and adding stuff to our Easter basket. Go figure, girls would knock on the door right at the end of the story/beginning of our next activity.  Discouraged.  Kids were distracted, not interested.  Praying that I won't be so bummed and that somehow the kids' are learning something.

I decided to look up tomorrow's activity.  This is what I read:  

Yet, we can take heart in knowing that the disciples did not get it either! Time and time again, throughout Jesus’ last days, the Bible says, “they did not understand… YET!” During the Triumphant entry, when Jesus was anointed, and when He humbled Himself and washed the disciples feet-they did not understand what He was doing (and they would continue to not understand for a time). How thankful I am that Jesus did not stop pouring out His truth when His followers could not comprehend all that He was teaching and doing. For eventually (in most of their cases- in just a few days) their eyes would be opened and they would get it!

I challenge you not to stop when it’s too familiar, or too difficult to understand. Keep pouring over His Word, keep seeking Him for wisdom, and keep teaching His truth to your kids!

How sweet of God to speak EXACTLY to my discouragement to press on!  Thank you Lord!  I will post pictures of today's activity after we do it :)  I am hoping to do it after dinner, like Jesus did :) before bed and we can recap serving like Jesus served us in so many ways including His death that is quickly approaching.  How patient God is because I am just like my kids, easily distracted and slow to understand!  Yet God in His love and patience keeps pouring in to me and loving me in my childishness.  Thank you God!!!
